Style:

The Delphine Cabinet has somewhat of a modern day Victorian thing going for it with it’s wood frame and doors and marble top, but takes a departure with the hardware including the bronze finished metal legs and sleek door handles. It’s equal parts confusing as it is interesting, and while we imagine it has a place in many a home, it’s at the same time hard to imagine it anywhere. Maybe a bathroom would be fitting, as it almost seems as it was first meant to be a sink before pulling out the sink itself and replacing it with a slab. Even in photos on the West Elm site it never quite looks like it’s in the right place.

Quality:

It’s a small, practical sized cabinet and is simply constructed with a single shelf allowing for two shelves of storage. The legs leave something to be desired in terms of quality standards but the cabinet doesn’t seem to have any stability issues and is in fact quite sturdy. The doors open and close smoothly.

The marble, while obviously not high grade (or it’d be a lot more expensive), looks beautiful in person. The contrast with the walnut stained veneer and bronze hardware is suiting but a smart color combination isn’t quite enough to save this from being a bit of a stylistic let down.

Value:

We wouldn’t foresee any real problems in terms of durability even given the relatively cheaper materials, and so while it’s not quite the right style for us, if you love it (which is all that really matters), we think it’s a decent piece of furniture. The price is high at $599, likely because it has any marble at all, and we probably would have preferred a different stone top and real hardwood if we had our choice.
