An elegant design and simple construction make the West Elm Bastone Coffee Table stand out amongst its peers. It’s on the smaller side and works well in a variety of settings. We love the contemporary base’s somewhat intricate “bundle of sticks” look, especially in conjunction with the round glass top.
The pieces of the base are welded together which we love as it reduces any potential issues with it loosening up and falling apart over time. The glass top itself is thin which could be a breakage risk but it complements the structure of the base well.
Our one qualm with this table is that because it is both small and light weight, we found it a little wobbly when putting weight on an outer edge. It’s one of those “look but don’t touch (or at least lean)” tables and as long as you can abide by that rule we think you’ll be quite happy with its aesthetic. It can certainly hold objects such as books or glassware fine, but may be in danger in a home with active pets or children.
For $399 at its size it’s probably a little bit overpriced, but given the high style and well constructed base even without a sale if you love the look we’d say go for it.
