The Movie Salt and Pepper Queen Sleeper by CB2 is at first glance a subtle yet attractive piece of furniture. At 80 inches wide for the queen it’s by no means a small couch, but thanks to the extremely low back and relatively slender lines, it doesn’t feel like it takes up a ton of space. It does also come in a twin which is nicer for small spaces, but the smaller size does take away from the classiness & comfort.

For starters, we really do like the design. Due to its simplicity and slim form it can suit a number of decor styles and rooms, and while on first glance it appears to be nothing more than a boring old rectangular box, there’s something symmetrical and elegant throughout the design which allows it to catch the eye.

When it comes to construction, the kiln-dried hardwood will ensure that you’ll have a sofa that can last you for years. The mattress it comes with is a bit on the thin side at 5.25″ but that’s not wholly out of the ordinary for a sleeper sofa. Don’t expect extreme comfort, but it’ll get the job done for a guest or an “I’m just too lazy to make it to the bedroom” night. The seat cushion is polyfoam and has a good firmness and is comfortable and thick enough to leave you forgetting there’s a mattress mechanism right under your butt.

Overall comfort is a little on the lower side due to the low back, but because the seat is nice and deep you can sink in a little and take a little bit of that “where does my head go?” pain away. We’d recommend adding some throw pillows since the depth allows for it and will help make up a bit for the lack of height, and especially considering there is no true cushion for the back this will go a long way to adding some additional needed comfort. It does happen to make a fantastic napping couch which is always a plus.

We definitely advise moving up to at least price group 2 for fabric. The stock fabric and many of the price group 1 fabrics will have pilling issues that will leave the sofa looking raggedy without regular maintenance from a vacuum and fabric shaver, and over time it’ll just look worn even when not pilled.

Price group 2 fabrics bring the queen sleeper sofa to a $1,799 base which while not crazy expensive is a little steep for what you’re getting. If you love the look and can afford the fabric price bump, it can definitely be a great solution for your sleeper sofa needs.
