The Tweed Flatweave Rug by West Elm is a big winner in both the style and functionality departments.
In person the speckled pattern is really quite striking and has an air of sophistication while still being fun enough for a funkier setting. Honestly we were surprised by how much we loved the look of this rug in person given it’s just a black and white flatweave. The fringes do add something different to it, but the weave itself is something for West Elm to be proud of.
We haven’t noticed any real shedding or pulling which is great, and due to it being a flatweave it both keeps clean easier and is very easy to vacuum and clean as needed, aside from the rarer possibility of wine or some other tough stain in the fringes. The rug is made of mostly cotton and wool, with 7% polyester, so not the fanciest materials but should allow for reasonable durability.
While we don’t consider this a drawback considering the rugs intentions, it’s obviously not soft on the feet or padded in any way, so if you want a soft foot feel it requires a rug pad.
At $199-$699 we think it’s a great deal, and we’ve seen it on sale for up to 30% off making the 5’x8′ an incredible steal at $139.
