Reviews are a tough space. After having worked in an online marketplace, I learned the following:
- Review websites have companies pay them and “recommend” the companies only solicit their best customers for reviews
- Companies regularly pull negative reviews off of their sites, usually leaving 3 stars and above with a sprinkling of 1-2 stars for “realism” and to give more credibility to the giant stack of 5 star reviews they leave up
- People value reviews a lot
I started trying to do my part by just reviewing each product I bought, but it didn’t feel like enough. While I work in the tech industry and I can think of a couple of ways to fix this issue from a technical standpoint, I simply don’t have the time (or want) to start a business, so I did the next best thing I could think of: I started a reviews site where I would be as unbiased as possible and allow reviews of all nature.
Why furniture? I’ve moved 5 times in the last 6 years. With each move I’ve had to buy new furniture, and it was always a painful process, especially in a world where you can’t always see or touch the furniture. I figured it was as good of a place to start as any.
Granted, I can’t review every piece of furniture, so when you’re reading “Editor” reviews keep in mind while many are mine, I also solicit help from friends and will add editor reviews to the site from people who simply leave stellar, detailed reviews (it could be you!).
Whether you’re leaving a review or looking for them, I hope you find this site helpful, and feel free to contact me for any suggestions!
